Problem gambling develops gradually. Most people who develop a gambling disorder did not see it coming. The following patterns are recognized warning signs. If you identify with multiple items on this list, consider reaching out to one of the helplines above.

Self-Exclusion in New York

New York operates a voluntary self-exclusion program administered by the New York State Gaming Commission. While this program is primarily designed for state-regulated casinos and sports betting platforms, understanding it is important context for any New York gambler.

The state program allows you to exclude yourself from all commercial casinos, racinos, and licensed mobile sports betting platforms in New York for a period of one year, five years, or lifetime. Enrollment requires submitting a form to the Gaming Commission, and once enrolled, you are prohibited from entering the gaming floor of any state-regulated facility and from placing wagers through licensed platforms.

Offshore casinos are not part of the New York self-exclusion program because they are not licensed by the state. However, most reputable offshore operators offer their own self-exclusion tools within your account settings. If you need to restrict your access to an offshore platform, look for options labeled "Responsible Gaming," "Self-Exclusion," or "Account Restrictions" in your account dashboard, or contact that casino's customer support directly to request account closure or cooling-off periods.

Practical Tools for Staying in Control

You do not need to have a problem to benefit from setting boundaries. These are practical steps any player can take:

Our Commitment

Blankboxnyc.com includes responsible gaming information in the footer of every page on this site. We evaluate casino operators partly on the strength of their responsible gaming tools -- platforms that offer robust deposit limits, session timers, reality checks, and accessible self-exclusion earn higher marks in our reviews. We will never recommend a casino that makes it difficult for players to control their activity or close their accounts.

If you believe a casino listed on our site has failed to honor a self-exclusion request or has made it unreasonably difficult to close an account, contact us at [email protected]. We take these reports seriously and will investigate.
